Our volunteers play a crucial part in supporting individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. By joining our team, you’ll help foster inclusive communities and contribute to important programs and events.
Volunteers can participate in roles like Regional Events & Program Support, Bingo Volunteer Support (must be 18+), or Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) representation (must be 18+ and Canadian citizen).
Our programs are flexible, and we ask volunteers to commit to at least one event per quarter. Whether you’re helping at in-person events, participating in our committee groups or advocating for special education, your contribution is essential to our success.

Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce is seeking community-minded individuals wishing to volunteer their time as Board of Directors Members or to assist at our promotional or fundraising events as Volunteer Members.
Perform musically for geriatric patients
Event Setup: Arrive early to assist with setup; Set up registration tables and signage; Prepare and organize materials (e.g., handouts, flyers)
Event Attendance: Greet and check-in participants; Provide information and answer questions
Program Help: Assist with program activities and games; Support participants as needed (e.g., providing guidance, answering questions)
Post-Event Duties: Assist with cleanup and breakdown; Gather feedback from participants; Post event follow-up/feedback

Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) Network provides bereavement support at no cost to families who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy at any stage, or the death of their baby, up to 12 months of age. We currently have volunteer opportunities for people who are approximately two years past their bereavement date and are looking for meaningful ways to offer their support to others. We are actively training peer supporters for private mixed loss group peer led support, loss specific online peer-led group support, and one-to-one telephone support.
Make a difference in your community by becoming a VON SMART® Exercise and Falls Prevention program volunteer!
The goal of VON’s SMART (Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together)® Exercise and Falls Prevention program is to enable adults 55+ to maintain independence, improve quality of life and to ultimately promote healthy aging. This functional exercise program can be found in various communities throughout Grey-Bruce.
VON SMART and Falls Prevention classes are led by volunteers who VON trains (2 days of practical plus the theory) and certify. Weekly we offer over 50 Level 1 and Level 2 classes in Grey Bruce with over 1,000 participants! We ask for a minimum commitment of 2 hours a week (one class) but have flexible schedules for those who are away for long periods of time. We are looking for volunteer instructors for both levels of classes.
These classes are offered free of charge to participants within Grey Bruce communities.
Supportive Care volunteers offer social and emotional support to individuals and families living with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness in Grey and Bruce counties (except Bruce Peninsula). Trained hospice volunteers offer support for approximately 2-3 hours per week depending on the needs of the individual and their family, and the availability of volunteers. Respite for family caregivers and companionship to individuals can be offered. Support can be provided in the client’s home, long term care homes and/or hospitals
Kids Help Phone’s texting service is the only free, 24/7 bilingual text line for people in Canada. The service is delivered by trained, volunteer crisis responders who work remotely.
We are recruiting overnight and or bilingual crisis responders who will answer texts from young people looking for support in both English AND French.
The volunteer position will be remote, meaning that you can participate from anywhere in Canada as long you have a strong, reliable internet connection!
Our volunteers need to be enthusiastic about helping people!
You can be a professional, student, teacher, retiree, or anybody else with a willingness to learn how to support people over text.
The role of a crisis responder is to bring texters from a “hot” moment to a cool calm one, and to help them come up with a plan to stay healthy and safe.
Crisis responders are trained to do this using active listening and collaborative problem-solving.

The research volunteer will be provided training on the existing resources and how to use databases and on-line resources. We seek a weekly commitment of a minimum of 2-3 hours any day of the week or Wednesday evening.

The collections volunteer will assist with all or some of these tasks
• creating on a computer finding aids for subjects
• photographing or scanning artifacts
• working on special programmes related to research/geneology/history

The collections volunteer will be provided training on the existing resources and how to use databases and on-line resources. We seek a bi-weekly or weekly commitment of a minimum of 2-3 hours Wednesday afternoon/evening.
Oversee the development of high-level financial policies and their review by the
board
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and its presentation to the board
for review
• Ensure that the appropriate monthly or quarterly financial statements are
reviewed by the board
• Ensure that the board regularly monitors the organization’s financial
performance and alerts it to any important discrepancies between planned and
actual figures
• Ensure that the organization maintains the appropriate financial books and
records and that these are accurate and up to date
• Ensure that government tax filings and remittances are submitted on a timely
basis
• Ensure that payroll and other liabilities are settled in a timely manner
• Serve as a co-signer of cheques with at least one another signing officer
• Ensure that excess funds and reserves are properly held and invested
• Verify that donations are handled appropriately and that grants, and service
delivery contracts are accounted for in accordance with the requirements of
funders
• Meet with the external auditor annually 3, or more often if needed, to identify
any financial control and record keeping problems or deficiencies and oversee
action by the Executive Director and financial officer to address them
• Recommend to the board the need for a review or renewal of the auditing
services provided
• Assists the Executive Director and board chair with the development and
presentation of the annual report
• Present or co-present the organization’s financial report and recommend
appointment or reappointment of auditor at the Annual General Meeting
• Helps, along with the Executive Director, keep the board informed of important
financial events, trends, and issues relevant to the organization
This volunteer opportunity is available in July and August of each year in preparation for the school year in September.
Assist in 'stuffing' backpacks with back to school supplies, based on the age and gender of the recipient.
Be trained to conduct education sessions on fracture prevention to seniors at seniors centres, retirement homes and active living programs.
