Duties•Completing condition reports, inventory and location information for individual artefacts 
•Applying accession numbers to individual artefacts 
•Re-housing individual artefacts, i.e. placing in acid-free storage boxes, building supports, padding textiles out with acid-free tissue 
•Basic cleaning of individual artefacts 
•Cleaning and maintenance of exhibit galleries and heritage buildings as required

BenefitsThis volunteer opportunity will build a sound understanding of the behind-the-scenes operation of a museum, including proper handling and storage of artefacts, proper accession techniques, and an introduction to the preservation of artefacts. Their work will ensure that each artefact is preserved for future generations to enjoy. Upon completion of 20 hours of service annually, they and a guest may visit Grey Roots free of charge. They will receive a quarterly volunteer newsletter, discounts in the gift shop, insurance coverage while on duty and an annual recognition event.
ClientsMost of the daily interactions in this position will be between staff, both paid and volunteer.
