Description

Description (Service) Provides volunteers to help prepare tax and benefit returns for individuals with a modest income and simple tax situation. Will complete current and previous years.

Will complete tax return year round, but people must call for an appointment outside of clinic dates.
Areas Served Chatsworth ; Grey Highlands ; Southgate ; West Grey
Eligibility Only for residents of Chatsworth, Grey Highlands, Southgate and West Grey. Is not able to assist residents of Hanover.

These suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only

Single individual - up to $35,000
Two-person family - up to $45,000 (combined income of a couple, or one adult with one child under 18)
+ add $2,500 for each additional dependent child in the family

Interest income limited to under $1,000

Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity

Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as:
  • returns for deceased persons
  • individuals who file for bankruptcy
  • self-employed individuals
  • individuals who report capital gains or losses
  • individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses


Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include:
  • Indigenous peoples
  • Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients
  • Newcomers to Canada
  • Seniors
  • Students
Application Accepting drop-offs as well as completing Income Tax Returns in person while you wait at one of the listed locations during the dates and times mentioned. 
 
If you live in any of the Grey County Affordable Housing locations, your Community Relations Worker will not pick up your tax information to be completed this year. Please see above schedule to find your closest location, date and time.
