Description

Description (Service) Offers supports to newcomers to Grey County and Bruce County including:
  • One-on-one support to answer questions and help find resources in the community
  • Group information sessions inform about important settlement topics and life in Canada and the local community
  • LINC English Language Classes
  • Community connections' activities to help make friends and engage in the local community
  • Newcomer employment program offers help in finding and rataining employment
  • Citizenship classes
  • Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS)
Available as a mobile service, staff will travel as needed to meet with clients in their own communities within Grey & Bruce Counties.

A collaboration between YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce.

Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-12 noon, 1 pm-4:30 pm
Some language classes and workshops offered in the evening

Eligibility
  • A person in Canada who was received an Approval in principal letter for their Application for Permanent Residence
  • Convention Refugee
  • Protected persons
  • Temporary Worker or Student who has obtained initial approval for a concurrent Application for Permanent Residence
