Description

Description (Service) Provides information, resources, and support services to help families maintain and improve healthy lifestyles Services include:
  • Family planning - preconception, pregnancy, prenatal information, breastfeeding, feeding difficulties, reproductive health, child health, healthy babies, toddler and preschool development
  • Online prenatal education
  • Parenting education
  • Immunization - vaccinations and information for all recommended immunizations for adults and children
  • Injury prevention - primarily related to alcohol and drugs, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs; prevention of domestic violence
  • Sun protection and skin cancer prevention
Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program
Home visiting program for families with children up to school entry age. Public health nurses and parent support workers provide support, information, and referrals to other community resources.

Topics include:
  • caring for a new baby
  • feeding and nutrition
  • growth and development
Discipline Breastfeeding resources available online include:
  • information for new parents outlining the benefits of and tips for breastfeeding
  • also offers toolkits for businesses to promote a supportive environment for nursing mothers. Includes tips for staff members to make a mother feel more comfortable about breastfeeding in public, suggestions on dealing with complaining customers and window stickers to let people know that women are welcomed to breastfeed inside
