The sponsorship process is being facilitated by the Mennonite Central Committee. Owen Sound and Community Refugee Initiative (OSCRI) / Grey Bruce Newcomers Network Initiative is a collection of approximately 15 faith groups, non-religious groups and community supporters responding to the global refugee crisis. Each group is coordinating their own specific committees to address the day to day needs of their refugee families. Initiative is being led by Rev Dana Benson at St Andrew's Church in Owen Sound. The fund is to support Bruce Grey welcoming initiatives for newcomers both to the community and those new to Canada. The fund is not for sponsorship's or direct support of refugees but to support the work of the various community committees that are providing front line support of newcomers and refugees.
