Description

Description (Service)

Offers free support, education and crisis intervention to women experiencing abuse or are at risk.

Services include:

Shelter Services

  • providing support to women experiencing abuse or facing a housing crisis
  • 13 short term emergency beds for women and children
  • 24 hour secure and supportive environment
  • individual and/or group counselling, meals provided, harm reduction

24 Hour Crisis Lines

  • confidential, 24 hours, 7 days a week support for women, children, and youth who are experiencing abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking or other forms of violence
  • anti-human trafficking support line 519-396-9655
  • violence against women toll-free support line 1-800-265-3026
  • sexual assault support line 1-866-578-5566

Child Witness Program

  • individual and group counselling for children ages 4 to 18. Helps children heal from the experience of witnessing woman abuse and meet other children who have also experienced family violence. Gives mothers the chance to be supported as they help their children heal.

Violence Against Women Counselling

  • individual counselling for women 16 years and over who are experiencing abuse or healing from abuse in Bruce and Grey counties.

Transitional Support Program

  • helping women build independence, navigating community resources: housing, education, wellness, income support, legal aid and representation, transportation and child care

Second Stage Housing

  • safe, secure, and supportive housing for survivors of abuse and their children.
  • Participation based closely with Transition staff to establish plans for safety, stability and independence

BIRTCH Transitional Housing Program

  • offering women safe, long term and supportive housing units embedded in community to bridge the gap between emergency shelter and independent living.

Family Court Support

  • support to women navigating family law proceedings, offering guidance and practical assistance understanding documentation, debriefing appointments, and accompanying women to family court proceedings note: this program does not provide legal advice or replace the guidance of a lawyer

MARAM

  • Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management, a collaborative approach that brings together community organizations to share information and develop safety plans for women at high risk of serious harm

Sexual Assault Centre of Bruce & Grey by Women's House Serving Bruce & Grey: Sexual Assault Counselling

  • confidential one-to-one support for women aged 16 and over, accompaniment to appointments with police, courts and hospitals and connection with other community supports

Youth Sexual Assault and Anti-Human Trafficking Program

  • works collaboratively alongside youth throughout Bruce/Grey County who have experienced, or been exposed to, sexual violence or human trafficking.
